SOLD!!
I bought this off a WatchSite forum member last spring, i was unfamiliar with this watch,
and really, you don't see many of them for sale. I had sold my 7A28-7040 and was missing
it. A while after i bought this, i got the 7A28-7040 back, and i find i only need one in my
collection, so i'm letting this one go.
if you want to try a deep dive, look here:
7A38-6050 SJS058 - Stainless Large 'Diver' (JDM only - Silver anodised)
it was compiled by another WatchSite member, Seiko 7A38 himself, and if you take your
time with what is really a very exhaustive thread, you'll have a great idea of what's out there
and what kind of condition they're in...
This one i consider to be in prime condition for a collector who likes to wear his or her watches
sparingly in a rotation, because it does have some wear on it, but it's in really nice condition.
Personally, when i get an absolutely mint watch, i really don't want to wear it, i want to keep it
mint. This watch has nice red print on the dial, in the long thread, you'll see that many or most
of these have orange-bordering on yellow texts that have been really washed out, by sunlight,
i suppose. There is some wear on the prominences of the bezel, but it is very slight compared
to many that can be seen, and again, that slight wear makes a person like me feel fine about
taking it out into the world once or twice a month to get it some exercise.
Dimension are 42.5mm wide case, 45.5mm overall lug-to-lug, 12.5mm thickness, there's a
nice downward slope on the hooded lugs ( i love hooded lugs when they leave you enough
room to fit a range of bracelets/straps in there, and there's room on this one, and the 20mm
bracelet width makes this a strap monster.) Bezel is bi-directional, with clicks, holds its place
positively for you, unless you want to move it again. Timekeeping is very, very accurate, and
these movements are famous, for having no plastic parts, and for being repairable, serviceable.
Kanji day wheel is original. Original lume is in great condition, but does not hold a charge for
very long. This would be a simple watch to relume, could be easily done if you want it to be.
The watch sits on the wrist very nicely, it's stable, and it lies flatly on the wrist, because
of those well-designed lugs.
The chronograph functions exactly as it should, with no problems at all. I know from direct
experience that these are sturdy and very utilitarian movements.
SOLD!! I am reducing the price from what i paid in May, which was $500 head only. I'll say $415
with the strap it's on, which matches it really perfectly, i think, or $385 head only, shipped
anywhere in the 50 United States. i think this is priced to sell, so for shipping to Canada, Europe,
etc., i'm happy to do it, but add about $20 to the overall price. Feel free to write to me here at TheWatchSite or at [email protected] and so, on to the pictures, if you need any more
information, please let me know.
and SOLD!!
p.s. i don't have a cell phone, when i'm out of the house, it might be hours before i see
a message here, please be patient. thanks!
