I’ve been known to scream it from the rooftops: the Rolex Explorer 1 is perfection and could be a one watch collection!!! (Not that I advocate that nor do I follow it myself…) Haven’t had one in for a while because I haven’t found one worthy. THIS is worthy! An incredibly clean example from 2004 in a FULL COLLECTOR SET! REF: 114270 SERIAL: F386XXX DATE: 2004 DIAL: Hard to add much that hasn’t already been said and drooled over for decades (including by myself) - not to mention a design that has been copied by so many others, but this is where it all began, the SWEET 3-6-9 dial. And this is a stunning example, incredibly clean, including the sapphire crystal, just a beauty! CASE: 36mm case with great original lines and nice brushing on the thick lugs. Tiny bits of wear here and there, mostly seen on the smooth bezel and sides, but all in about as close to mint as I think you’ll find on a 20 year old watch! MOVEMENT: Under the hood is the equally iconic Rolex cal 3130 automatic movement. It’s a beast. A workhorse. AND an upgrade from the older version in the Explorer 14270. Service history is unknown, but hand winding and setting is like butter, and timegrapher numbers are incredible, well within COSC at 3 seconds a day with an amplitude of 309! BRACELET: Comes on its original, correctly date stamped 78690 Rolex oyster bracelet, which is another upgrade from the previous version, as this one has solid endlinks. Full 13 links here, so will fit up to app 8 inches (currently has 12 links on but spare link will be included.) Light wear throughout, as expected, including a few light scratches on the end links, but mostly seen on the clasp. All in looks great! ACCESSORIES: FULL COLLECTOR SET! Comes with outer Rolex box (even has the original 114270 sticker on it), inner Rolex box, punched Rolex papers, original serialized Rolex hang tag, booklets, and spare link - just incredible to find one this complete!
