Seiko SLA047 Limited Edition. This is the current generation Marinemaster 300 with a gorgeous black ceramic bezel insert with partial lume and a very deep green dial that can range from almost black to a vibrant forest green depending on light.
This is definitely a luxury-level watch, hand made in the Grand Seiko factory with beautiful zaratsu polished case on an extremely comfortable bracelet with on-the-fly tool-free microadjust/wetsuit extension. Some people complain about and replace the bracelet or clasp, while others (me included) absolutely love it. This is a very smooth wearing bracelet with no rattle, no hair pulling (all edges are beautifully rounded) and while the clasp is thick, it is very secure and as someone whose wrist swells quite a bit in hot weather or strenuous activity I make good use of the microadjust.
I absolutely love this watch and am very reluctant to sell, but I recently expanded my collection beyond my 10 watch (not counting my father’s watch that I inherited and the one my wife gave me for our 20th anniversary) limit and two pieces just have to go. Since I wear dress watches more than divers I decided to keep the King Seiko rather than this one.
This watch was purchased by a US authorized dealer (Exquisite Timepieces in Florida) and the USA warranty card is dated 9/15/23. I never signed or submitted the warranty card.
This is the full set, including the links I removed from the bracelet (and the one extra pin and collar needed to reattach all links) as well as an extra, brand-new clasp with my marks. The original clasp has considerable desk diving marks as I type at a wooden desk and do not remove my watch. Other than the desk diving marks on the clasp and likely a few on the bracelet the watch is in beautiful gently used condition. There are no scratches on the crystal or watch case that I can see. The watch also includes an extremely nice green rubber dive strap that is unused.
The watch runs very well, and while I have not timed it as I do not own a timegrapher and change watches every day, I have found that it gains 3 or 4 seconds per day that I wear it, so probably runs at around +7 or +8 seconds per day if I had to guess. Seiko rates the 8L35b movement at between -10 and +15 (these are not regulated from the factory) so it runs well within spec. What is really great about these movements is that they barely deviate in any position or at any charge level, it will always be consistent and if regulated will stay where it is set. This is essentially an unregulated and undecorated Grand Seiko movement, and is one of my favorite aspects of this watch. The winding and setting are extremely smooth.
I am reluctant to let this one go.
Price includes PayPal goods and services fees and USPS Priority Mail shipping insured to full purchase price within the continental United States.
