In 1892 Abercrombie & Fitch was founded as a true sportsman's outfitter shop. They offered robust and dependable clothing and supplies to famed sportsman including Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart (flight jackets), Ernest Hemingway (hunting rifles, slippers, etc), and many others. During the 1940s and on, they carried A&F branded watches manufactured by Heuer; one of the most respected time keeping companies for purpose-built tool watches. To say that Abercrombie & Fitch branded Heuers are rare would be superfluous. **These are the last of the Heuer/A&F collaboration pieces and very rarely seen with a near NOS bracelet.** During the 1980s quartz was king and these meca-quartz pieces were some of the earliest quartz chronographs ever produced. They utilized the best of mechanical technology using the famed Dubois Depraz 2000 chronograph module (same module used by Audemars Piguet in their original Royal Oak Offshore chrono line) combined with cutting edge quartz technology of the day. These watches are an excellent neo-vintage size at 40mm wide but a short lug to lug of about 44mm, making it wear similar to a 38mm watch and work well on a lot of wrist sizes.
