On offer from my person collection is a proper mid-1960s tool watch in excellent condition. The Super-Plongeur is the hard to obtain, high-end version of the Sous Marine made famous by Yema in the 1960s. The SPs were produced by various makers, and all share the same dial and furniture, along with the all-steel Sous Marine case and the 300m depth rating. Case is super-sharp, with no polishing, and only a bit of honest wear on the caseback, where the lettering is easily readable. Inside is a workhorse A. Schild 1712 automatic movement, keeping good time.

Coming in at a hefty 41mm x 49mm and 20mm lugs, the SP has a formidable wrist-presence, very large for a vintage piece, and up there with the other serious dive watches of the era (e.g. the Eterna Super Kontikis and Squales).

The real highlight here is the wide bakelite bezel with thick, crenelated edges. This is in superb condition, with no cracks, fading, or discoloration. The dial is quite unique and attractive, with the rectilinear outer grey subdivisions, double lume plots, lollipop sweep, and "arrow" lume infill on the minute hand.

Watch is all original, inc. the cyclops crystal, excepting the the screw-down crown, which is a replacement. It will come on the generic oyster-style band, as pictured, though I can throw in a leather strap as well, if so desired.

This is, to my knowledge, one of only two Super-Plongeurs available on the market, and one of only a few Sous Marines. The majority have been snaffled up already, and finding a black-dialed one in condition like this is increasingly difficult (there's an Evilard SP on Ebay, asking 1300 Euros).
