Hi again folks, for sale is one of the best modern Seiko diver releases in recent memory – the 55^(th) anniversary limited edition SPB149! At 40.5mm x 47.8mm x 13.9mm, this watch wears extremely comfortably on the wrist and has a stunning dark blue sunburst dial with signature gold long sweep seconds hand. Condition wise I would put this at 94%. The watch case is in excellent condition with very, very minor signs of wear, the most notable being some slight hairlines on the polished chamfer on the crown side of the case and some light rubbing in the brushed finish on the top of the top right lug. I tried to pick up both in the pictures. The bracelet has signs of desk diving but overall is in great shape. The watch comes with both bracelet and an excellent blue OEM rubber strap with light signs of wear on the metal keeper. The movement is running at 7 s/d. The watch will come with its full kit. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
