[WTS] 1972 Apolo “Spaceman” by André LeMarquand - $450 Shipped 🚚
Up for sale is this iconic Apolo “Spaceman” watch, designed by André LeMarquand in 1972 as a tribute to the space race and the moon landing. Commissioned by Claude Lebet of the Catena watch brand, this futuristic design mimics the half-closed visor of an astronaut’s helmet, with a domed crystal partially covered by fibreglass. The watch debuted at the Basel Fair in 1972 and remains a standout example of 1970s design inspired by the space age. Its bold aesthetic, combined with a unique triple-formed Corfam strap by DuPont, made it an instant classic. Specs & Condition: - This model features a 21-jewel Swiss ETA manual wind movement - approximately 45mm in diameter. Constructed from fibreglass and steel, it retains its original ‘Corfam’ strap. - The watch is in good overall condition with age-related wear (refer to photos). - It is running slow and would benefit from a service. - The Corfam strap has separated from the vinyl backing in parts but could be re-glued.
