Hey WatchEx! For sale is this Japan-made vintage Volkswagen PVD skin diver. For a brief period, Volkswagen were making interesting watches primarily just for the Japanese domestic market. This is, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. Surprisingly well-made with an all-metal case with PVD coating, Japan's build quality shows.  The dial has green luminous markers that still glow but not as brightly as they once did, as is the case with the Mercedes hands. I think the 12, 3, 6 and 9 all being horizontal blocks is a good touch. The elongated German flag (as Volkswagen is a German company) sits proudly on the matte grey dial. The date window is in silver to match the colour tones of the watch. Interestingly there is the VW logo etched into the underside of the crystal, which is another cool attention to detail. The case, as I said before is metal with a dark grey PVD coating, giving it a stealthy look. The case shape carries on the stealthy styling with horn lugs and the same PVD finishing on the bezel. The bezel is a friction-fit bidirectional count-up bezel in diet pepsi colours. I like how they decided to make all parts of the watch including the bezel just a little bit different than what you may have seen before. The crown is also signed with the VW logo.  This watch houses the calibre V247B movement made in Japan by Morioka Time Inc., which is a subsidiary/factory belonging to Seiko. In the facility they also make the movements for Credor and previously, Grand Seiko. Judging from the movement and battery type as well as the watch design and style of serial number/case back design being similar to how Seiko does their own watches, I would date this watch from the mid-'80s to mid-'90s. If we go by the same serial format as Seiko, that dates this watch to either May 1985 or May 1995.  The watch is in great condition considering it was made 30 to 40 years ago and is in perfect working condition, with only very minor general wear.  I had a brand new battery fitted and it comes on a brand new strap.
