This is the Seiko SBCW009, a commemorative model celebrating Mitsuro Ohba’s successful solo transpolar trek across the Arctic Ocean in June 1997. The dial features a hidden-print Arctic map that reveals and changes its pattern depending on the angle of light. It is further detailed with the name “MITSURO OHBA,” the inscription “TRANSPOLAR ADVENTURE WORLD RECORD,” and the marked starting and ending points of the journey (Cape Arkticheskiy and Ellesmere Island). The watch was produced in a limited edition of 1877 pieces, corresponding exactly to the 1877 km distance covered during this historic expedition.
