Ebel has a knack for making a bracelet feel like part of the watch rather than an attachment. Founded in Switzerland in 1911 by a husband-and-wife team, the firm found its most recognizable design language decades later: gently rounded cases, restrained dials, and those unmistakable wave-shaped bracelet links. The effect is architectural without being severe, with curves doing much of the work.

The Sport Classic, introduced in 1977, is the starting point for understanding that language. Its slim profile and supple bracelet made a coherent whole, particularly in steel and gold, where the alternating metals underline the waves. Quartz belongs naturally to this chapter of Ebel’s story; these watches were designed around elegance and everyday practicality, not the spectacle of a movement.

The 1911 collection gives the same vocabulary a sturdier frame, with a hexagonal bezel and five exposed screws. Its mechanical chronographs, including versions powered by Caliber 137, offer a different texture: busier dials and more substantial cases, still unmistakably Ebel.
