Been an epic week of epic Rolex Datejusts so feels fitting to kick off the weekend with this incredible example! Might be my favorite 1601 variant, the dark grey dial! Often when these age they can take on lavender hues, this one really stands out with some light brown tones - that combined with some sweet patina forming on the white gold bezel and it’s just an awesome look! AND this one comes with Rolex service papers! REFERENCE: 1601 SERIAL NUMBER: 3,236,XXX YEAR: 1973 DIAL: The Rolex dark grey dial is BELOVED for a reason! Such a stealth look, that ghost affect when the light hits, just a killer combo! And you can see even under macro how clean this dial is with gorgeously aged tritium lume - all in I don’t believe it gets better than this! CRYSTAL: Plexi crystal has wear seen at certain angles, but all in presents beautifully. CASE: Really nice 36MM stainless steel case with solid 18k white gold bezel. Lugs are very thick and even with great brushing on top. All in looks to be unpolished, just an incredibly sharp case. Given that is does have expected wear throughout, mostly seen on the polished sides, and some scratches on the bezel, but also looks fantastic! LOVE the patina forming on the bezel as well, bringing some sweet warmth to the white gold! MOVEMENT: Comes with Rolex service papers from 2009. Recent service history is unknown, but that iconic Rolex automatic work horse is doing what it was designed to do - winding and setting beautifully and timegrapher numbers are fantastic at an incredible 0 seconds a day with an amplitude of 251. Being from 1973 you get the addition of hacking seconds hand which is great to have! BRACELET: Comes complete with original Rolex jubilee bracelet. Light wear throughout, mostly seen on the clasp, but looks great all around, with better than average stretch for the age, especially for a large jubilee - this will fit up to about a 7.75 inch wrist.
