# SBGJ203 Video: [https://imgur.com/a/DZuipRj](https://imgur.com/a/DZuipRj) For sale today is an absolutely beautiful Grand Seiko SBGJ203 GMT with 36000bph Hi-Beat 9S86 movement. The 44GS is an iconic Grand Seiko case, and it pairs amazingly well with the deep black Mt. Iwate textured dial on this piece. The dial markers and hands are classic Grand Seiko design language, and the red GMT text and matching GMT hand add a perfect little pop of color. This particular example is in very good condition and comes with the inner and outer Grand Seiko boxes, GS timing certificate, hang tag, manual, and bracelet measuring up to 8" with the watch. The case itself measures 40mm in diameter without the screw down crown, with a 46.2mm lug to lug length and 19mm lug width. Wrist shot is of the watch on my \~6.75" wrist. I just received a Rolex Explorer II from Matt, very smooth deal. The watch is better than advertised. I'd have no problem buying from him again. My only complaint, it was a tossup between my sawzall and the Jaws of Life to get the package opened, very securely packaged!!

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
