Note: this is one of two German pilots I had up for sale, and the other one just sold. If this moves in short order, great. If not, I may just hang onto it. Don't miss your chance as these rarely come up and this price is WAY below market.
With that as context:
Are you a pilot?
Do you want to be a pilot?
Do you like pilot watches?
If the answer to any of those questions is yes, you might just be in the market for a classically styled flieger watch.
But which brand to choose?
Before you go down the same road everyone else has, I would encourage you to research Tourby. They are a small, independent watch brand from the city of Hagen in the North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany that has won several German design awards and focuses on aviation and marine watches. Their watches are hand assembled, made to order, and sell for thousands of Euros.
So, I offer up for sale my Tourby Aviator in the classic Type A flieger configuration.
This watch was launched in 2012, as a small batch of only 50.
What that means is you will likely never see anybody else wearing one of these and if you miss out on this opportunity to acquire one you may be waiting for years to find another example in the wild.
This is not your everyday pilot watch. Rather, what you get for your money is quite remarkable:
German made G4c watch case in stainless steel
38.5mm diameter, 10.5mm thickness (goldilocks size - fits great on a variety of wrist sizes)
Bead blasted finish, specially hardened and very robust against scratches
Screw down crown, pressure resistant to 10 BAR (100m depth), low pressure resistant, magnetic field protection up to 80,000 A/m, dial + movement ring + cover made of soft iron, sapphire crystal with 2x double anti-reflex coating inside
Engraved solid case back (note the detail of the German oak - the emblem of the city of Hagen)
German made watch dial with bright C1 lume, Swiss Made hands set with bright C1 lume, Swiss Made ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, self winding, both side winding rotor, sweep second, 25 jewels,
Incabloc anti-shock proof, Etachron, 28.000 A/h balance, 38h power reserve
In other words, this watch is the very definition of overengineered and will last you for many years.
A great investment opportunity that will surely appreciate in value over time and a great way to get your hands on a high quality German watch without breaking the bank.
Keeps excellent time.
Many years worth of references on this forum.
