A great looking vintage Longines SS “All Guard” automatic circa 1960. Featuring a robust design 35 X 43mm case with wide bezel, heavy lugs, acrylic crystal and screw down case back. With warmly patina’d original once silver satin dial with applied, flared and faceted silver indexes and tapered sword hands. Powered by self winding Longines 19AS movement with sweep seconds.

The caseback tells the story of the “All Guard.” The heavy screwdown caseback bears a large and deeply engraved LONGINES name, and further documents this as a watch for rugged conditions of wear with all of the following prominently engraved on the case back; “Lifeguard,” “Synchro-Guard,” “Shock-Guard.” and Water-Guard.”

This Particular watch i believe once belong to a US Marine as you suggested to the back engraving of the wordings "OUTSTANDING MARINE THOMAS V LOVEJOY"

The “All Guard” model was a robust design model and a rival to the more well known Omega Seamasters and Constellations of the era. We think these models are over looked and neglected in today’s market. The current example has rich, warm patina and is a stand out on any wrist.
