For sale is this vintage Seiko Quartz 4121-8000 made in Japan in October of 1979. This watch is in amazing condition for its age (over 45 years old) and has a brand-new strap that suits it perfectly. Early quartz were high quality and made to last compared to modern quartz. Seiko led the way in the quartz revolution that toppled the Swiss watchmaking industry. This watch is part of Seiko's charge. The 7121 movement is a beauty to look at with its main feature at the time being a 5-year battery life which was far more than the usual 1-2 year battery life of the time. The linen dial is subtle, it's very hard to capture on camera but brings a nice texture in person. The 8000 models sport a black seconds hand to contrast all the tones of gold and bring focus to the watch being quartz (tick per second) as quartz were generally more expensive than mechanical at the time. The Daini factory symbol is proudly on the dial under the single crystal quartz symbol on the dial (and on the case back) as it was in fierce rivalry with the Suwa factory. The watch is thin at just 7.8mm contributing to the beautiful side profile that I like so much.
