Founded in 1892 by David T. Abercrombie, Abercrombie & Fitch began as an elite outfitter for outdoor enthusiasts. By 1904, under the partnership of Ezra Fitch, the company had established itself as a premier supplier of high-quality sporting and excursion goods.



The brand's reputation for excellence attracted notable figures such as President Theodore Roosevelt, who chose A&F to outfit his African safari, and aviators Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart. The flagship store, once located at Madison Avenue and East 45th Street in New York City, was renowned as "The Greatest Sporting Goods Store in the World," offering everything from bespoke shotguns to expedition equipment.
