For sale is this vintage Seiko Lord Quartz 8242-5000, made in Japan in August of 1978. The Lord Quartz series was a high-end range of watches positioned just below or more or less equal to the King Quartz series (just below the top-of-the-range Grand Quartz) and was intended for young business men, as advertised by Seiko. The Lord Quartz series is very rare as they were only made for 3 short years between 1978 and 1980.  RRP in the 1980 Seiko catalog was 40,000 yen which equates to $720 in today's money adjusted for inflation. This example, reference number QFL814, is the gold linen dial version which is bound to look good beneath a cuff of a suit. The rounded square case with the goldilocks proportions will suit most wrists and most outfits for those who like wearing gold watches. Being steel gold-plated instead of gold-plated base metal means dings and wear is less noticeable. The gold plating is still mostly intact, pretty good for a 47 year old watch. A simple three hander with polished gold baton stick makers that have a black strip down the middle. Dial is a gold linen striped design for a triple gold affair.  Seiko logo, single crystal quartz symbol and the Suwa factory swirl symbol printed in black. Made in the Suwa factory (swirl symbol on dial and case back) during their fierce rivalry with the Daini factory. The bracelet is original and also is in decent condition with a bit of wear. The Seiko logo is embossed on both parts of the clasp. Stated accuracy of 10 seconds per month. General wear expected for its age but overall in decent condition, dial is spotless, crystal a couple minor scratches.  Brand new battery.
