For sale is this vintage Technos with Swiss ETA 955.412. Technos was founded in c.1900 by Melchior Gunzinger, in Welschenrohr, in the Swiss Jura Mountains, Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. This watch is one of the high-quality models from Technos before they started to make cheaper, low quality models with Miyota movements. The dial is a silver sunburst around the edge with both Roman numerals and gold applied dot markers and a crisp, scalloped gold circular date window at the 6 o'clock. The centre of the dial is a satin gold that contrasts to the high-polish gold stick hands. At the time, Tag Heuer was dominating the market with their 2000 series and many big brands were trying to do their own version of it including Seiko and Longines among others, this being Technos' version. The two-tone and sand/bead blasted finishing were the main features of this design. I own a two-tone Tag Heuer 2000 ref.934.013F and I can honestly say the Technos is far superior in quality. Where the Tag Heuer has folded centre links, the Technos has completely solid links, where the Tag Heuer has push pins, the Technos has SCREW-in pins which are not only a sign of quality but make resizing the bracelet way easier. The Technos also has a better sheen to the sand/bead blast finish with sharper chamfers. They both use virtually the same Swiss ETA V8 movement yet the Technos is 6mm thick compared to the 9mm of the Tag Heuer despite having very similar dimensions in the rest of the measurements. The Rolex-inspired fluted bezel is in good condition and has slight purple iridescent hues from ageing. It has a hidden butterfly clasp, one side of which is a bit stiff but works just fine, just requires a bit of force to open.The Swiss ETA calibre 955.412 V8 movement is a beautiful sight and works as it should. The watch is in great condition for its age with only very slight general wear. The crown is a nice octagonal design, fitting for the watch design but is worn on the top. The integrated bracelet can accommodate up to a 20.5cm wrist and there is one extra link but is lacking the screw pin to be used. Dimensions are: 33.6mm (inc. crown) x 36.3mm x 6.1mm Bought in Japan.
