Powered by Seiko’s premium Caliber 7F18 quartz movement, this watch was built in an era when quartz was treated as a serious form of watchmaking rather than a disposable technology. The 7F series is known for long service life, strong reliability, and excellent accuracy, making it one of Seiko’s best non-mechanical movements of its time. The standout feature is the dual celestial display. In addition to the Moonphase, this model also features Seiko’s rare Sunphase complication, which shows the position of the sun for a given time of day. Together, they give the dial a distinctive and almost poetic layout rarely found on quartz watches, then or now. The watch wears elegantly with clean late-80s design language and a balanced multi-register dial. Despite the amount of information on display, the layout remains legible and refined, giving it a formal presence without feeling busy or overdesigned. This reference has become increasingly difficult to find in good condition, and examples with both Moonphase and Sunphase are now sought after by collectors. It represents one of the most ambitious quartz designs Seiko produced, and stands as a reminder of how creative and technically driven the brand was during the Quartz Renaissance period. This example remains in excellent condition for its age, showing little scratches and no dents. The dial is clean and crisp, the crystal is clear.
