Hi everyone, here’s a timepiece you don’t see everyday: a “ribbon” or “tapestry” dial (some would call it) Seamaster decorated with elongated hexagon hour markers. Probably one of the more interesting Seamasters out there, it bears the reference 14762, and is powered by the robust caliber 562 automatic movement. The highlight of this piece is definitely the vertically-striped ‘curtain’ design with a reflective surface treatment which has an almost 3D-like effect with the way it gives visual depth at different angles. These dials were special orders back in the day; offered to customers who wanted something a little different, and are unsurprisingly found in much smaller surviving examples. The 8 gemstone-style applied hour markers decorate the edges of the dial in a visually mesmerising way. Some natural spot patina has developed evenly across the dial, probably due to the treatment of the surface, and shows the originality of it. The ‘Seamaster’ lettering script also bears the period-correct hangar style hook ’S’ (which was used from the 50s to the early 60s), and its chubby lugs and beefy case also makes it easy to wear—appearing larger than its humble 34.5mm dimension would suggest.  The caliber 562 movement runs great, and was serviced earlier this year in February. The crystal glass and scalloped crown are both original and signed with an Omega logo. For this rare Seamaster, I’m looking for a fair $999 + shipping (usually $50) from Singapore via reliable Fedex to wherever you may be.
