Hi again crew! For sale is a VERY rarely seen annual calendar watch from Ochs und Junior that was named to Hodinkee’s Perpetual Calendar Buyer’s Guide in 2016: The Annual Calendar LIGHT 42mm. This watch is an absolute feat of engineering – Ochs und Junior took a three-fold approach to weight savings.
1. The case is milled out of a single block of grade 5 titanium by a machinist who builds parts for a Formula 1 team in Switzerland. Every bit of non-essential material is milled away from the case and it has no movement ring and only two parts – helping create a more simple process for water resistance and leading to great weight savings.
2. The dial, gear wheels, hands, and crown and made from lightweight Al Mg Si 1 instead of heavier brass.
3. The strap is made from Kevlar, Velcro and the buckle is made from carbon fiber.
The overall package generates a staggering 39% weight savings over the standard annual calendar watch as it comes in at only 42.94g! With a case size of 42mm wide by 42mm lug to lug and 10mm thick, it wears unbelievably light and comfortable on the wrist!
This watch provides a super modern, clean and legible take on the annual calendar complication. The date is indicated by the 30+1 holes around the perimeter of the dial. The 7 holes display the weekday (counterclockwise rotation) and the 12 holes display the month (counterclockwise rotation). The exact minute and second can be read using the date holes, which are spaced at 2 minute intervals. Holes mark even minutes and gaps odd minutes. The holes and gaps are exactly the same width as the minute hand. The full manual on how to set the watch is on the Ochs und Junior website, and I would HIGHLY encourage the buyer to read it first before setting the watch!
Condition wise I would put this watch at 97%. There are only very faint marks on the back of the titanium case from handling but otherwise I can find no noticeable dings, nicks or scratches on the case or crystal. The strap is in excellent condition. The watch was recently serviced at Ochs und Junior and it is running extremely well. It will come as “watch only” with a cardboard O & J travel case, eBay authentication card stamped 7/30/2021, and signed factory service paperwork dated 10/30/2021. Only about 10 of these are hand produced each year, so it’s pretty unlikely that you will see another one out on the wrist of one of your watch buddies!
I am asking $6,200 which includes fully insured shipping in the US. Not interested in trades at this time – trade offers will be politely ignored. Please message me with any questions or interest and thanks for looking!
