The CWC "W10" is a distinguished piece that encapsulates a pivotal era in military timekeeping, produced with the expertise of the Hamilton factory. This watch not only reflects the design and craftsmanship of Hamilton's esteemed models from 1973 to 1975 but also marks a significant period in British military history. From 1976 to 1980, CWC had the honor of outfitting the British armed forces with these watches, with 1979 being a year of universal issuance across all military branches and the culmination of the mechanical era before transitioning to quartz technology. The W10's widespread use by the British armed forces is a nod to its exemplary quality and functionality. Distinct markings on the case back indicate its specific service allocation: "W10" for the British Army, "6BB" for the Royal Air Force (with this model being part of the limited 2,400 pieces produced for the RAF), "0555" for the Royal Marines, and "0552" for the Royal Navy. The year 1979 not only stands out for its comprehensive service distribution but also as the final year of mechanical issuance, adding a layer of historical significance to this piece. This model is in exceptional condition and features the robust Hacking ETA 2750 movement, making it a prized addition to any military watch collection, especially as we reflect on the transition from mechanical to quartz movements in military timepieces. Diving into the specifications, this revered 1979 RAF-issue "W10" 6bb showcases a manual wind mechanism with Hacking Centre Seconds, powered by the ETA 2750 caliber. Timekeeping is good. The watch maintains its original Mil Spec dial, encased in stainless steel, and measures 35.7mm across without the crown and 37.7mm with, extending 41.2mm from lug to lug. It features a solid bezel, original hands, the correct acrylic crystal, and retains its original, unsigned crown. Complementing its historic essence, the watch is fitted with a new 18mm NATO style strap with steel fixtures, and has an 18mm lug width. Asking $800 which includes insured CONUS shipping. I accept Zelle, wire, or stablecoins. Open to face to face in the Los Angeles area. Album: https://imgur.com/a/BrBux7d Timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/IbAQWrT
