[WTS] Seiko “Gray Ghost” SBCZ005 5M63-0B40 Kinetic Quartz Titanium 200m Diver
This is a Seiko Kinetic “Gray Ghost” diver with the 5M63 Kinetic quartz movement. Lots of cool and unique characteristics combined into one attractive and technologically advanced watch. First, the case and dial: classic 1990s styled 39mm titanium case houses one of Seiko’s most interesting dials: the gray, textured “Grey Ghost” dial. Seen on a few other predecessor models (like the “Starfish” divers”), it’s both attractive and provides a nice low-contrast surface for the prominent indices and big hands to stand out. The lume is excellent on this model. It’s a quartz movement with a rechargeable battery. The battery is charged by a small generator that is spun by a rotor. Movement of your arm transfers kinetic energy into electricity. The battery has a decent power reserve and the button at 2 o’clock uses the second hand to display battery percentage. Two quirks: a watch winder doesn’t impart enough energy to actually wind the generator. You’ll need to wear it (or google for some wireless candle charger solutions). Secondly, these rechargeable batteries don’t like sitting empty. They’ll leak. Plan on wearing it enough to keep a charge in it so the battery doesn’t degrade. This example is in great used condition with very minor swirl-type wear and no known functional issues. Original titanium bracelet has all its links and fits app 7.5-inch wrists (or 8-inches with integrated diver’s extension). Has a Japanese-language engraving on the back that says “20 years of service Seiichi Mitsuma” so presumably it was a gift to an employee. Sold as-is. Looking for $279 shipped CONUS or best offer.
