I have up for sale a very nice, early and original ref 176.007.
The watch offered for sale has been with me for a number of years, and I have decided to let it go as part of a re-alignment of my collection.
The watch comes directly from a movement service and is provided with a one year guarantee on the work performed.
The watch has got the early “stick” minute hand intact, original crown and correct/signed crystal.
This is in my opinion as a collector an “as original as you will find” early 176.007 in such great condition.
To my knowledge the watch case has never been polished. It has some light scratches and marks, it is not a NOS case, but still a truly lovely condition IMHO. Please see the pictures in this post, and in the watchmaker link below for details. https://mitka.co.uk/omega-seamaster-176-007/
There are several threads here on Omegaforums where the watch has been pictured, and a separate thread I started with relation to the very special serial number of this watch.
https://omegaforums.net/threads/176-007-and-cal-1040-family-review.32325/
In conjunction with my quest to sort out the background for this uncommon serial number, I contacted Omega directly back in 2015 and received a reply early 2016 with the following information:
I have later not been able to pursue this any further. So, “prototype” or not, and I do not have or offer any other information than the mail correspondence leading to the above mail copy, it can at least be said to have an intriguing side to it.

After sitting in my collection for the past almost 10 years, I decided that before I sold it, I would have a competent watchmaker check it over.
The crystal also had a crack in it from when I bought it originally, and as I was able to locate a correct new and original one, decided to give the watch a service.
Pictures from the recent service may be seen here: https://workshop.mitka.co.uk/cgi-bin/library?action=show_photos&wat_id=1113
Apart from the crystal, and a fresh case-back gasket, Mitka replaced the fourth-wheel as this was slightly wobbly.
As a result, the watch will be sold with a 12 month guarantee on the movement service carried out by fellow OF member and watchmaker Mitka (https://mitka.co.uk/).
The watch is still with my watchmaker Mitka (United Kingdom) and shipment will be directly from him.
