rare Soviet / Russian minimalist design quartz watch Luch (‘луч’ brand from Luch watch factory in Belorussia. Brand name translates into English as ‘sun ray’) Simple yet beautiful black dial with applied polished indices (gold color finish) and simple stick hands. Beautiful brand name in cursive at 12 o’clock. High dome acrylic crystal and gold plated round bezel with interesting cutouts on the side of the case. This variation of the watch was probably only made during a short period of time in the 90s- I was unable to find any other example of this exact model online. It has ‘сделано в Беларуси’ inscription at 6 o’clock which translates to ‘manufactured in Belorussia’. Belorussia became a country in 1991, so this watch must have been made some time between 1991 and maybe early 2000s. Great condition considering the age of the watch, there are signs of use and some scratches on the case. Original acrylic crystal has a few hairline scratches but no cracks or discolorations. Quartz movement is running well and keeping good time.
