Men’s “Tokyo Night” **Year**: October 2024 **Features:** **The Price.** Produced as a limited run in October 2024, Seiko partnered with Hisashi Kishi, the head bartender of STAR BAR in Tokyo’s Ginza district and a past winner of the International Bar Association World Championships. I used to live in Tokyo and have spent a lot of time in this area. Being familiar with it, I imagine Hisashi would take the train to the Tokyo station on his way to work as it’s only two blocks away. Upon exiting the station, this area is unique in that there are tall office buildings filled with the gold and silver glow of salarymen working late into the night. I strongly suspect this was his the inspiration for the design of a black night sky(dial), illuminated and pierced by tall glowing buildings (indices). **The Accuracy.** The “Tokyo Night” houses an absolute workhorse of a movement, the 4R35. It’s not the highest hertz nor most expensive of Seiko’s movements, but a cocktail or five in on a beautiful Tokyo night and I don’t think it would ever cross your mind. **The Dial.** This is where this watch truly shines. Seiko Presages are known for their stunning faces but this one takes it a step further and creates a dial that seems to have an ever shifting beauty. In some lighting it is a glowing painting of an ephemeral darkness, an ever present call to the void, and at other angles it seems to disappear and let the gold indices pop out. **The hands.** Perhaps one of the most beautiful parts about this watch is the hour and minute hands that have a lustrous high shine on one side and a soft powder gold on the other that really glows against the dial. Paired with theses is a delicate glossy sweeping second hand that has a beautiful cutout counter balance reminiscent of of the SARB033. **The Finish.** Fit and finish on this is the standard quality you get with a Seiko Presage— to the naked eye, one of high quality that punches well above its weight class. **Reason for Sale.** I was just living in Tokyo and spent a lot of time walking around the area where Star Bar was. Once back in the states I picked it up with some birthday cash as a memento (Aries gang), and as much as part of me would love to keep it and start a collection, I have ultimately decided it’s not the right fit for my style and being a minimalist nomad I’m in search of a single GADA watch.
