Good evening, WatchEx! Whole bunch this weekend, starting with this: the brilliant Pandial Bicompax Chronometer in an extremely limited edition black titanium from beloved independent brand, Brellum. Whenever I post up a more obscure or special brand, I always check previous listings here to see what others have thought. I was a bit surprised when I saw the only four Brellum listings on here, most of which were years ago. This is a special brand, heralded for quality in the independent sector. Technically, I suppose they're a microbrand, but that term feels so reductive here. Maybe "Boutique" brand is a better term. To keep themselves in check, they only produce 299 watches per year - much easier to complete quality control when you have complete control of manufacturing each and every watch. No middleman markup, no bullshit sponsors, just fine watchmaking at reasonable price. Once you've held one of his watches in your hands, you'll have a difficult time justifying spending double for a comparable model from any number of fine Swiss watchmakers. Enough babbling - on to the watch itself. I've always been a sucker for tachymeter/Bicompax chronograph layouts and black cases, so this is a natural smash for me. It wears very friendly for the size, is extremely light on the wrist (Ti for the win), and is designed with comfort in mind. Having raised box sapphire crystals on both sides of the watch is a bold move, but the lower of the two melts into your wrist leaving you with a relative thin-wearing automatic chronograph. The woven strap is comfortable, and comes equipped on a nice clasp system. This is the total package - and you'll absolutely get lost in the blue dial. The packaging is excellent, too - and includes a nice leather travel roll.
