In 1969, Bonux, a French laundry detergent brand, launched a massive promotion where customers could win one of 10,000 diver-style wristwatches through a simple number-guessing contest. It’s textbook late 60s consumer marketing: low barrier entry, huge volume, and a reward that felt modern and useful.

The watch leaned into the full tool-watch fantasy with a black dial, bold Arabic numerals, date, and a lume-heavy look. Bonux tapped into the symbolism of the wristwatch as a marker of reliability and status, using that emotional pull to sell household goods. Killer crossover piece between design, advertising, and watch culture.

Condition: Good. The case has barely any markings, but the crown is losing some of the plating. The dial looks impressive and the lume still shines. I don’t know if the bezel is meant to rotate or not. Please see the pictures for full condition and clarity.

Case Size: 36mm chrome-plated case with a lug width of 18mm.

Movement: Cattin C66, manual wind 17 jewels, 18,000 bph, and a 40-hour power reserve. Service history is unknown, but everything works as it should.
