Hello,

I am selling my Seiko Type II from October 1977:

Sober and dressed watch, typical of the 70's.
Model reserved for the Japanese market (JDM - Japan Domestic Market).
Pretty sunburst aluminum gray dial, with logos and applied indexes.

It can be seen in volume 1 of the 1978 Seiko catalog (page 13):

Rare model on the second-hand market, especially with its original strap !

CONDITION:

The watch is in very good condition / very well preserved for a 46 year old watch (See Photos).
Note inevitable signs of wear on the case, bracelet and glass, but nothing shocking for its age.

WORKING ORDER:

The original movement works well (keeping the time, changing the day and changing the date).
The crown was deliberately pulled to take the photos.

OTHER:

No traces of oxidation.
The watch, including its strap (ref. XGA611), is completely original.
The bracelet is complete. It is currently adjusted for a 16.5/17 cm wrist. Note that the bracelet is originally equipped with a bracelet extension (+ 1.5 cm) itself equipped with a second spring extension (+ 1 cm), allowing it to be enlarged by a total of + 2 .5 cm extra.
The folding clasp has 5 holes, spaced 4 mm apart, for optimum adjustment.
Monocrystalline quartz (Cf. Logo applied at the bottom of the dial), which was only fitted to the top of the range at the time: Grand Quartz, King Quartz, Lord Quartz, Superior Quartz, etc.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
