I’m looking to pare down my collection a bit in order to go after a long sought after piece for Christmas, so today I have available this Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter Auto GMT in blue (H76645140). It is the 42mm version. This watch was intended to be my day to day pilot watch, though it really never got the wrist time that I envisioned. I have only worn it twice since I purchased it back in August. As all my watches are, it has been babied and case kept, occasionally on a winder. It is in excellent condition, with one flaw. The crystal has two parts - the part that encases the dial and another small crystal covered sub ring on the rotating bezel (the conversion ring). You can see from photos that there is a small chip in the crystal, and it was purchased this way. I’m not sure how the chip got there. I took it to a Swiss watch repair shop local to me and they tested the watch for functionality and it is running great (+/- 7 seconds fully powered). I was assured the chip in the outer ring does not affect the watch function itself, nor its water resistance. They quoted me $80-100 to repair the crystal, and when I shopped around for other quotes, I got quotes ranging from as low as $60 to as high as $200. I never contacted Hamilton and I have yet to take it in to repair the crystal. Besides the chip, the watch is 9.5 out of 10 in quality. The rest of the crystal is flawless, and there are no signs of wear on the case front or back. There is only one light surface mark on the bracelet, and some very light surface marking on the bracelet buckle, all pictured.This is a beautiful watch (the blue dial is really tremendous) and has great functions for a pilot, though I never got the chance to use them. And, for the person willing to take it in to get the crystal fixed, the price cannot be beaten and is a great value. This is for a complete kit - original box and manual, as well as extra links.
