# IWC Caliber 852 Video: [https://imgur.com/a/KRtkjph](https://imgur.com/a/KRtkjph) This gorgeous vintage 1953 IWC piece is driven by the caliber 852 movement, which was made from 1952-1958 and limited to a total of about 13,000 units across all models before being succeeded by the much high production caliber 853 series. Like all IWC automatic movements, the caliber 852 utilizes the innovative and efficient Pellaton winding system, which gives the watch great shock protection compared to other pieces from the era. The highlight of this watch is the incredible and very rare black lacquered dial. The case is a classic IWC design and is in exceptional condition, nothing much more to say there. The movement on this is also winding and setting smoothly. Case 35mm wide (without crown), 42.2mm lug to lug, 12.4mm thick, with 18mm lugs. The large dial real estate here makes the watch wear larger than measurements might suggest.
