Hi folks, I have for you today this stunning Tissot Telemeter 1938 Chronograph Ref T142.462.16.052.00 with all original inclusions. This watch is in like new condition and was purchased by me in September 2024 and worn 3 times since. I haven’t been able to get it into the rotation so I’m moving it on. This beautiful heritage model has a Valjoux A05.231 movement with an extended 68 hr power reserve, domed sapphire crystal, sapphire see through case back and an absolutely stunning black dial with sunburst sundials and gilded applied indices. The dial really pops in natural light and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it every time I’ve worn it out. I definitely think it punches above its weight class. It’s also somewhat unique when it comes to the usual chronos you see because it has a Telemeter scale instead of a tachymeter— meaning that it can be used to measure the distance of something instead of speed. This type of scale was originally used by soldiers to measure the distance of artillery fire by comparing how long it took to hear the boom after seeing the flash. It can similarly also be used to measure the distance of a thunderstorm by timing the difference between the lightning and thunder. A very cool, and dare I say, usable interpretation of the chronograph :) The condition here is great—- no marks on the case, bezel or crystal whatsoever, and the only indications that this watch was ever worn are two small marks above the Tissot logo on the deployant clasp (see photos) and some break in/stretch marks on the leather strap.
