[WTS] Breitling Navitimer Automatic 41 - A17326 One of Breitling’s most famous pieces, the Navitimer, dates back to 1952 when the U.S. Aircrafts and Pilots Association approached the watchmaker about a flight chronograph that could be used to make all in-flight calculations. This was no small feat. This new device had to be able to calculate things like average speed, distance traveled, and fuel consumption. In an age before computers, pilots ran these calculations on their own, and they needed a watch that could assist them. First appearing in 1954, the early Navitimers appear incredibly dense, after all, an incredible amount of information needed to be squeezed onto their dials and bezel. As the world of aviation changed, so too did the Navitimer. And even when pilots didn’t need a Breitling on their wrists to make those crucial calculations, they kept on wearing them, as did civilians on the ground. This model, the A17326, being the 41mm stainless steel option from the series. In its wear, the watch is robust by its diameter while naturally sporty and versatile by its style, with its slide-rule bezel providing plenty of charm even without the use of an additional, orthodox chronograph functionality. By the same token, the dial of the watch matches the sentiment, with it featuring plenty of traditional Navitimer charm and function, albeit now in a time-and-date package. Overall great condition with the case and strap being in excellent condition, the sapphire crystal does have two very light scratches on the anti-reflective coating which can only be seen at an angle and within the right light.
