For sale is a rare Raketa from 1995. It was made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War (common Soviet term for WW2). Sure, celebration watches are everywhere – but not for the Turkmen government. The dial depicts Saparmurat Atayevich Niyazov, President of Turkmenistan when this watch was made. Like most Russian watches at the time, it was assembled at the Petrodvorets Watch Factory. Inside is the workhorse Raketa caliber 2609.HA. The case measures 34.5 x 37.7 mm, with a thickness of 10.2 mm. I believe the 18mm strap isn’t original, but it fits the watch nicely. I don’t know its service history, but everything works as it should. I’ve only seen pictures of two other watches like this one, so it seems they’re as rare as they come.
