This piece remains unpolished, with its Zaratsu finishing intact. The crystal is flawless, and the indices and hands show no signs of aging. I originally acquired this watch from this very platform a year ago, and I’d argue it's in better condition now than when I first bought it. Why is the SBGX121 Special? A fellow enthusiast asked me what makes the SBGX121 unique. Well, who doesn’t love the classic dual-logo Grand Seikos? Without it, the space above the 6 o’clock marker can feel a little empty. The SBGX119 and SBGX121, along with the SBGX115 and SBGX117, were the last four 9F61 models released in 2015 to feature the classic dual-logo design. By 2017, Seiko transitioned to a single GS logo, marking a shift upmarket. Notably, no new releases happened in 2016, making the SBGX121 one of the last "youngest" 9F61 dual-logo Grand Seikos before the branding change. In 2017, Seiko re-released the SBGX119 and SBGX121 as the SBGX319 and SBGX321, but there were no design changes—just the switch to the single-logo branding. Case & Wearability: 37mm case (similar to my SBGX261) Compact 42.9mm lug-to-lug 18mm lug width, ahh strap options! (not 19mm) Wears smaller than the 26X series Domed crystal – Strong '60s Madison Avenue aesthetic No bezel = Excellent legibility This is a modern, durable Grand Seiko with the legendary 9F61 quartz movement. Unlike older models like the SBGX009 (which I also love!), this one has better water resistance. After sending it to Grand Seiko Service Studio for a full inspection and overhaul, they: Replaced the gasket, stem, and crown Returned the original parts for safekeeping Passed the WR test with flying colors Why Am I Selling? For years, I thought 36-38mm was the sweet spot for my pencil-thin wrist. But after owning a Nomos 35mm, then a Nomos 33mm, and now the SBGX347 (34mm), I’ve realized I actually prefer 34mm watches. (I also just bought the Kurono 34mm 2025 Project Watch!) So, I’m transitioning to smaller watches, and that’s why I’m letting this one go.
