It was born in the aftermath of the quartz crisis, a time when Swiss mechanical watchmakers were struggling to compete with cheaper, more accurate quartz models. Breitling turned back to its military roots, creating the Colt as a dependable, highly legible tool watch for air force use. While it was intended for professionals, the Colt quickly caught on with civilians as well, becoming a hit throughout the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s with quartz, automatic, and chronograph variations offered. This A1731311 carries that heritage but updates it with modern refinement. It stands out immediately thanks to its mariner blue dial, decorated with a fine concentric texture that plays beautifully with the light. Applied polished steel indices with luminous fill, a crisp minute track, 24-hour markings, and a raised flange with a 1–100 scale give the dial both depth and utility. The polished steel hands glow clearly in the dark, while the red-tipped seconds hand adds a touch of sharp contrast. The stainless steel case combines brushed and polished surfaces, shining under sunlight without losing its tool-watch toughness. Its uni-directional bezel is thoughtfully executed, with a satin-brushed top, polished edges, engraved numerals at the quarter hours, and a luminous pip at zero. At just 10.7mm thick, it wears slim and comfortable while still delivering serious dive credentials. Inside is the COSC-certified Caliber 17 automatic movement, beating at 28,800 vph with 25 jewels and offering a 40-hour power reserve. Backed by 200m of water resistance, a screw-down crown, and a solid caseback, this Colt is built for adventure but refined enough for daily wear. The watch is in excellent condition showing minor hairline scratches on the case and the caseback. The crystal is flawless, with clean bezel, clean dial and case, AR coating is strong and shows no sign of fading. Watch is featured on OEM bracelet that fits up to 19cm (7 inches wrist). The watch has been serviced, so it’s keeping excellent time at +/-3s (Chronometer Certified).
