Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.* At the heart of this timepiece beats Elgin’s Grade 133, crafted in Elgin, Illinois, and completed in 1899—the very last year this grade was produced. Made only between 1896 and 1899, this 15-jewel movement features an exposed mainspring barrel and striking damaskeening (Geneva stripes). Every component was carefully refinished by hand in our Little Rock, Arkansas workshop—blue accents on screws and hardware achieved through precise hand-applied thermal treatment, while the jewel settings, gear train, balance, and balance weights were individually polished to restore their original golden sheen. Up top, the porcelain-enamel dial is absolutely flawless—elegant numerals accented by golden and silver decorations between each hour, with outer minute markers featuring graceful curved “5s” and “3s”. Original golden Louis XIV–style hands complete the look. This is late-19th-century American watchmaking at its finest—expertly converted in our 40 mm 316L stainless steel conversion case for a perfectly balanced, everyday-wearable piece.
