This is the Richard Mille RM016. As a brand, Richard Mille really needs no introduction. Founded in 2001 by Richard Mille and his partner, Dominique Guenat, the brand has gone from strength to strength. Having leveraged on social media and the power of influencers, it’s fair to say that no other brand has gone from 0-100 in such quick fashion despite being a relatively young company in horological terms.

Famous for their avant-garde aesthetics, Richard Mille introduced the RM016 in 2007 as their first rectangular watch. It was also extra-flat given the thinness of the case in comparison to their tonneau cases, essentially wearing like a second skin. 202 separate machine were operations required for the manufacturing of each case. It is of note that despite the thinness, the robustness so famously associated with the brand was not compromised.

Powered by the Caliber RMAS7, the baseplate and bridges were crafted from grade 5 titanium, ensuring that the movement was able to withstand external impact. The rotor contains a white gold weight with 6 possible positions, which allows for their unique variable geometry system that optimises the rotor’s winding motion. At the time of service, the winding efficiency can be adjusted to the owner’s preference.

Love them or hate them, Richard Mille is clearly a force to be reckoned with. They have done a tremendous job marketing their brand into one of the most luxurious and desirable in the world. With a clear design language and the watchmaking prowess to boot, Richard Mille is clearly here to stay.

Condition
This Richard Mille RM016 is in excellent pre-owned condition. There are some hairlines at the top of the case which are barely visible but overall has very few signs of prior wear. It comes with the original winding box and warranty and the watch is in full working order.
