I am reducing my Roamer chronograph collection and, thus, offering for sale an iconic manually wound chrono with verified racing DNA: The ref. 726-9120.602, powered by a Valjoux 726 and also known as the "Björn Waldegård" model in well-preserved and ready-to-wear condition. This watch might not be the most prominent figurehead of its generation but it offers a lot to the adept collector and vintage aficionado:

? True racing pedigree – CHECK
(being worn on the wrist of Swedish rally legend Björn Waldegård - who later went on to become the first winner of the World Rally Championship - winning the Rallye Monte Carlo in 1969 and '70 in a Porsche 911S)

? Outstanding vintage design and size – CHECK
(container construction, a cushion-shaped case, a highly-domed crystal, funky colour accents and a diameter of 37mm w/o crown)

? Lovely ageing lume – CHECK
(thanks to generous tritium applications)

? Comfy and high-quality bracelet – CHECK
(bracelet made by famous NSA with a practical spring extension mechanism in the clasp)

? Highly regarded movement – CHECK
(Valjoux 72, known from early Daytonas, just to give one prominent example)

And now for the condition report:

Case - The case (37mm wide without / 41mm wide with crown, 43,5mm lug to lug) is in excellent condition with sharp edges and well defined bevels. The brushing on the front is there and the polished sides show only superficial scratches from regular wear but no serious dents. The stingray logo engraving on the caseback is nice and deep, however, the very sensitive model number imprint can only be rudimentarily recognized just as an additional text of dedication from 1976 in gratitude of 20 years of service. Crown (signed, of course) and pushers are all original. To sum it up, the case is in worn yet still excellent and ready-to-wear condition.

Dial and hands - The dial is in superb condition, too, with a beautiful applied logo and deep red tachy scale and centre chronograph second hand. All original lume markers on the dial are untouched and fully present and the tritium has taken on an appealing vanilla colour, perfectly matching on dial and all-original handset. The minute hand is missing a bit of lume whereas the Tritium applied to the hour hand as well as to the small permanent second hand remains intact.
Crystal - The acrylic crystal is the original one with the manufacturer’s logo etched in its centre ('RW' for Roamer watch). It was buffed for perfect readability of the dial.

Movement - The Valjoux 726 (an improved version of Valjoux 72 with 21,600bph instead of 18,000) works as it should including all chronograph functions (start, stop, restart, reset) and timekeeping is excellent (approx. 10s/d in dial up position). The crown winds very smoothly and both pushers react crispy. Nevertheless, the service history is unknown to me.

Bracelet - The watch comes on an NSA stainless steel bracelet (18mm lug width) with a practical spring extension mechanism working inside the Nivada signed clasp. This bracelet, fitting a 18.5cm wrist circumference without making use of the fully functional spring extension, is the same type and size but with a subtly different pattern as compared with the original Roamer NSAs. I am also including a correct Roamer clasp which needs a bit of metal work at one hinge but basically can be used to replace the Nivada logo if the new owner wishes to do so.

Price - Given the excellent overall condition I am asking EUR 1.800,- for the watch as described above. International insured shipping is to be discussed with the buyer.

Add-ons - In addition, I am also offering a spare caseback with all model name engravings fully legible and also a period-correct Roamer watch box (various options), both at a reasonable surcharge.

Eventually, here come the pics (all unedited, please click to enlarge):

This is the optionally available spare caseback (container case part):

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).

Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!

Kind regards,
F.Antl
