For your consideration: a modded Islander in the style of the Seiko Samurai, just $279 shipped! This mod started life as an Islander ISL 27, Long Island Watch’s upgraded Samurai-alike, with 42mm diameter, 200 meter water resistance, upgraded hexad-style bracelet with solid end-links and a proper machined clasp, fat upgraded spring bars, flat sapphire crystal, drilled lugs, ceramic bezel insert and a hacking and hand-winding Seiko NH36 automatic movement. I’ve taken that spec-monster platform and modded in an aftermarket Samurai dial and handset to make this thing the Samurai that Seiko should have made.Condition is almost new, as shown in the photos below. The watch is very close to new-in-box, showing no marks or wear on the case, or crystal, and the bracelet has only the slightest of desk diving scuffs on the clasp.The movement is running flawlessly, and I've regulated it to +/- 0 secs/day accuracy (though it's still an NH36 so your real world performance may vary.) The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
