This is a crazy cool watch! The rare Cartier Tank Pallisandre de Rio aka Brazilian Rosewood. That’s right, both the dial and the sides are made out of solid Brazilian rosewood. 3000 total were made back in the mid 70s for two Cartier boutiques. And this is the even lesser seen jumbo version!

YEAR: App. mid 70s

DIAL: Where to even begin? Solid Brazilian rosewood (extremely hard to photograph) but just STUNNING in person! All of the natural beauty of wood, and as you can see here different shades throughout. Add to that the gold signature, hands, and markers and it truly is art on your wrist!



CASE: This is the jumbo vintage men’s version, measuring in at 25mm x 34mm. I Love a vintage Cartier tank, but they wear small, this one gives it some nice extra presence, as seen below on my 6.5 inch wrist. You’ve got more solid Brazilian rosewood on the sides, in a darker color to play off the dial, then that classic Cartier Vermeil case - so much to love!



MOVEMENT: Cartier (ETA base) manual wind movement. Service history, unknown, but winding and setting well, and keeping time within under 10 seconds a day. The jumbo is ref 21611 (as seen on the inside casebook here) vs the standard size that was 20611.



STRAP: Comes on a brand new brown leather 18 MM strap that complements the wood beautifully
