If you were to attempt to describe the design language of the 1970s in one word it would be FREEDOM. The beginning of the 1900s to the mid 20th century marked decades of restraint. 60 years of discipline, function over form, paradigmatic for the tastes of the generation. The 70s represented over the top home décor and resulted in some of the most creative case designs to date. The royal oak, Cartier Santos, Piaget polo, Nautilus, Ellipse (1968), Gondole to name a few. Every brand let their creative freedom reign. Omega was no exception with their C cased constellations and their introduction of they dynamic line. Its oval shaped case is reminiscent of the typography of the era and its design clearly influenced by the space exploration of the decade preceding it. The case is in fantastic shape. The original, horizontally brushed finish on the bezel is present. The sharp edges between the bezel and midcase are extremely crisp. The brushed finish on the caseback can also be appreciated. The caseback presents with some faint wrench marks. The crown was replaced sometime in the past. The case is completed by a factory original OEM Omega crystal. DIAL: An original, matte white dial. The dial is in great shape. There is one faint scratch that I observed near the 10 o'clock hour marker that can be seen in certain lighting and viewing angles. The dial features baton hour markers and a date complication at 3 o'clock. The dial is completed by matching pencil hands and a bright orange second hand - a beautiful touch. MOVEMENT: Omega automatic caliber 565. Service history is unknown. The movement winds, sets, runs and keeps time. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that the watch is keeping time between -9 and +13 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 168. The watch can be serviced for approximately $325 plus parts. If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty. BRACELET: Comes on the pictured, original, Omega 1153/138 bracelet.
