“The Dan Dapper” When this watch was born Omega was smack dab in the middle of the quartz crisis that shook the entire swiss watch industry down to its core. Allocated precious resources to the development and improvement of quartz technology meant that Omegas focus on high end mechanical watchmaking waned which led to watches from this era to be less desirable to collectors and therefore command less premiums as a result. Had this been a less common solid gold omega from a different era with a higher grade mechanical movement the price would be double. As such the mechanical watches from this era have remained relatively affordable during this boom in the vintage world. ABOUT THIS WATCH: MANUFACTURER: Omega MODEL: De Ville REFERENCE: 111.0140 YEAR: 1979 CASE: The solid 18kt yellow gold case appears to be unpolished. Red patina can be appreciated on the lugs. The case has superficial scratches commensurate with age. There is a nick on the 11 o’clock lug. The case is completed by its original crown. DIAL: The champagne dial is pristine, free of any observable marks or scratches. The dial features the less common “De Ville” script in cursive and is completed by matching black hands and applied stick indices. MOVEMENT: Caliber 625. Manual wind. Service history is unknown. The movement winds, sets, runs and keeps good time. It was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated that the watch is keeping time within 26 seconds per day and has an amplitude of 261. The watch can be serviced for approximately $325 plus parts should they be needed. If serviced the watch will come with a one year warranty.
