Hello everyone, I have a Grand Seiko SBGW285 for sale. The watch was purchased in Japan from an Authorized Dealer in February 2022 and has been worn as part of a regular rotation of my watches. I would conservatively rate it at a 8.5/10 in terms of condition. There are no marks on the crystal, and signs of very light usage on the watch, only visible in harsh lighting. There are scratches on the back of the lugs from strap changes. The watch will come with all of the original box, papers, tags as seen in the photo, and it will come with its lovely OEM forest green leather strap. The watch will also come with the Grand Seiko Beads of Rice Bracelet (A00A111J0) with all of its links. I purchased the GS Beads of Rice Bracelet in the Grand Seiko Vendome Paris Boutique. Documents for this purchase are available if desired. Additional photos and information is available on request! I am looking to sell the entire package for 3750 USD, inclusive of shipping to North America. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
