This is a catch & release for me. It is just a hair too small for my larger wrist.

This is the Seiko Prospex Antarctica Tuna ‘Save the Ocean’... the one with the penguins. The watch is in excellent condition and comes with inner and outer box, the hang tag and blank warranty card.

I am asking $265 for this watch and I am pretty FIRM - but I always listen to offers. I am only interested in larger Tuna trades or Citizen Eco-Drive professional Diver trades and I can add cash where necessary and appropriate.

Description

This timepiece is inspired by the landscape of the world’s largest marine sanctuary – Antarctica. The dial’s colour and texture echo the views underwater of penguins swimming on the surface, whilst the penguin silhouette at the 10 o’clock position represents the dwindling numbers of its inhabitants. The shape of this watch is affectionately nicknamed by Seiko fans as a ‘Tuna’ – because of its larger diameter and bold shape like a tuna tin – loved for decades since its release.

Seiko Prospex watches are designed for sports lovers and adventure seekers in the water, in the sky or on land – and are robust for everyday wear, whatever the environment. Since launching Japan’s first diver’s watch in 1965, Seiko’s innovative watchmaking has changed global dive watch standards.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
