Here we have an early 40s Movado with a stainless steel Francois Borgel case (case maker behind many iconic cases from Patek Philippe), Bregeut numeral sector dial and pink gold bezel. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot of info out there on vintage Movado outside of their chronographs, so I can’t know for sure what model this is or if it’s all original. Given how spotless the dial is I’m inclined to believe it was likely refinished at some point. But either way that never bothered me as I just purchased this as a beautiful Calatrava-style dress watch from an interesting era in watchmaking. Case diameter is 31mm, was serviced by the previous owner. Amplitude is over 300, accuracy is within 10 seconds per day. A beautiful early 40s dress watch ready to wear. Breguet is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury watches, founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet in Paris in 1775. Currently part of The Swatch Group, its timepieces are now (since 1976) produced in the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland.

The company, along with Vacheron Constantin, is one of the oldest surviving watch-making establishments and a pioneer of numerous watch-making technologies, such as the tourbillon, invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet. It also produced the first wrist watch in 1810.
