NOTE: I had a purchase history with u/AudaciousCo on here with me buying a vintage Seiko Grande Quartz from him/her, but it’s not showing up. Excellent almost like new condition Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 up for sale at **$11,500**. ***Boxes, papers and chronometer certificates included.*** **Timestamp: https://imgur.com/gallery/VJRbE0n** **Condition:** No faults with the case, bracelets, movement, hour indexes, dial, and the bezel screws all align harmoniously. Very light scratches (98% condition) on the external side of bracelet. Barely noticeable if at all. ***LORE*** If you know this piece, you just know. If not, it’s a poor man’s royal oak/nautilus. Original enough to be its own thing, but ultimately just a relatively tacky exercise in an otherwise prestigious brand with a heritage that is misdirected. (They couldve made the family involvement development aspect of this project organic, timeless and soulful, but they went with a tacky, derivative, lazy approach; the scheufele family for you: no horological artisans, just opportunistic billionaire jewellers). And boy do their heritage in jewelry shine through here. **Bracelet:** On par with a Royal Oak’s/Nautilus’. It just depends on which design you prefer based on factors like: taper, brush/polish finish, distribution of link pieces which in turn change the light reflection profile(blinginess), thickness etc.. Quality wise the bracelet on the Chopard is on par for sure. No debate. The character of the bracelet reminds me a bit of the older variant Overseas bracelet, a breitling chronomat rolled link bracelet, an omega constellation bracelet and a bvlgari bvlgari(those older smol round ones) bracelets. Very characterful and definitely original enough. Best part of this watch imo.(not the dial) **Case:** Brilliant finishing, art deco/sophisticated sport chic outlook. First thought when I had it in person: ***”This looks like some sort of relic. Just beautiful.”*** At 9.7mm thick, it actually wears surprisingly thicker, especially when compared with an elegant Nautilus. The AE sits very tankish on the wrist, and feels very robust and sporty. Almost Aikon-like I guess. The two nautilus wing-things on the case sides are design cues(and a separate case component so not monobloc) that I really like. It balances out the aesthetics from a top down view, and looks very handsome and proportionate. Finishing wise, there’s the usual: possibly hand assisted royal-oak-type coarse vertical brushing on bezel, alternation between polish and brushed finishes(just a roll of the dice at this point really), polished screw sinks for maximum efficiency in self defense via blinding enemies with the reflection of your wealth and so on. **Dial:** Galvanized blue, inspired by eagle’s iris. You just gotta see this one for yourself. It’s organic yet glittery/slightly plasticky. It really depends on the light/angle. Dial is just very small even for a 41mm. I think this is chopard’s lack of sound horological judgement at play. Slight, but obtrusive a quality that should have been filtered. Silver lining? This piece looks like a sports tank(not the cartier); very robust looking that will wear any future scratches with tasteful character. Will very likely be an amazing vintage relic in the future. The applied rhodium plated roman numeral 3 6 9 12’s are iconic, classy but honestly could’ve been executed better, both in finish and in proportions/shape imo. **Design/Outlook:** I genuinely feel like something is missing when glancing at the dial due to its overly simple template; older models had a small circle center of the dial to correspond to the raised bracelet center link and the screws and harmonize the busy elements, which I thought made sense. Here? Sophisticated and busy bracelet suddenly transitions to a clean-ish bezel and bvlgari-ish dial. Wotm8? You might like it though. However, what lacks in harmony where the bracelet design meets the case/bezel design is made up with the textured dial. **Metal used:** is marketed as Lucent steel, which is ultimately just double melted steel with less impurities, yielding desireable properties like being hypoallergenic, and just looks shinier when finished well.(kinda true; the brushed bezel reflects like a mirror sometimes) Steel alloy provided by Voestalpine Austria, which deals with high grade steel in multiple industries. As for the “Lucent steel”being a few vickers (50%) Harder? More scratch resistant? Probably just marketing. I think this piece looks fantastic scratched up though, as can be seen here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/197lvip/wts_chopard_alpine_eagle_41mm_blue_dial/?rdt=42287 (Unrelated reddit post and definitely not my piece, but this reddit vid actually catalyzed my purchase due to how good the scratches looked) **Movement:** Calibre 01.01C, developed from Fleurier Ebauche. *Finishing:* Industrial(reminds me of Blancpain); machine-snailed plates with non hand-assisted machine perlaged baseplate. A more delicately finished variant of this very calibre was used in more upscale haute horlogerie L.U.C. models, so make of that what you will. But yeah, movement looks clean, uninspired and leaves you wanting more in a way that is both good and bad depending on factors like your wallet, dignity and freetime. This very piece apparently comes with an extended 5 year Chopard warranty when you register for it on the Chopard website. Too prideful for patek shenanigans? Too poor for an Audemar? This piece will quench your thirst no doubt! (It’s what Hublot dreams of being fwiw)
