Hi again! For sale is a very rarely seen collaboration between Weiss (back when they were based in LA) and Birdwell Beach Britches, the limited edition (1 of 10) “Birdie” Surf Watch. This version was done in a 42mm x 12.8mm thick titanium case with a see through caseback highlighting the beautiful Weiss hand wound Caliber 1003. Running at 21,600 vph, it has a power reserve of 46 hours and was fully assembled in Los Angeles! Water resistant to 100M with a screw down crown, the dial features artwork illustrating Birdwell’s shaka-throwing mascot, originally designed in 1964 by graphic artist Mike Salisbury. Condition wise I would put the watch at 97%. There are no major or significantly noticeable dings, nicks or scratches on the watch case or crystal. Under loupe there are some fine micro swirls on a few parts of the polished bezel surface but they are not noticeable under normal inspection. The only visual flaw I could notice was a small piece of dust on the dial between the 2 and 3 o’clock markers, but it is only noticeable under certain lighting and very close inspection. The movement screws and unscrews nicely (the crown on this movement has an inherent slight wobble once unscrewed, just an FYI for the next owner) and I clocked the movement at -12 sec/day with 0.8 BE (your mileage may vary!). The watch comes with its original box and paperwork noting the serial (7 of 10) and on a beautiful, lightly worn grey Weiss sailcloth and will also come with 3 bonus straps: a blue nato, blue Tropic rubber stap and blue carbon weave Hirsch strap!
