Up for sale is my May 1982 Seiko Dolce 6030-5480. This is an ultra slim quartz powered dress watch from Seiko's high end Dolce line that was popular in the late 70s and throughout the 80s. The watch is approximately 29mm wide, 36mm lug to lug, 6mm thick, and features 17mm lugs. The bracelet accommodates up to a roughly 7.25in wrist with the links included. The dial is a pale gold with sparkles of brighter gold showing when the light is right. The color is interesting for a gold tone watch - more a pale champagne rather than a bold yellow gold. As someone who doesn't really like gold watches, this is more subtle than I expected. Finishing is polished on the case and center links, with brushing on the rest of the bracelet.
The case is NSAG - an ultra-hard combination of gold and tungsten carbide, I think, that makes the case and bracelet almost impervious to scratches. Yes, the bracelet! Unlike pretty much all of the Dolce models with ultra cases the 6030-5480 features a hardened bracelet in addition to the case (the 9521-5030 being the only other model with a hardened bracelet as well I'm aware of). The bracelet features the hard NSAG material plated over stainless steel.
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The case is pretty much flawless, thanks to it's ultra hard construction. The bracelet shows wear from use - some of the NSAG material appears to be scraped off in small spots on a few links, there are a few spots of discoloration, and the plating appears to be cracked or dented on a few more. No doubt this is why Seiko had so few hardened bracelets - they were scratch resistant, but if you hit them hard enough, the coating could still show damage. Overall, these flaws are hard to notice and are located on the underside of the bracelet. The dial is pristine, with no water damage. The crown is original and still has the black cabachon in place. The no-date 6030 quartz movement is running great, consistently under it's +/-10s a month rating, and had a new battery installed in March.
Feel free to contact me with questions. Included at the end of the image list is a shot of the movement during the battery change (its surprisingly pretty!) and a comparison in natural light between the Dolce and my 10k rolled gold Bulova to give an idea of the color of the Dolce.
