Lapis Lazuli dials were all the rage in the 1970s when the F77 was originally released. Depending on the lighting, the dial shifts from a deep navy to bright blue. In the sun the metallic deposits shimmer and add additional visual interest to the dial. Pictures really don't do these dials justice. While the overall design definitely borrows from the 1970s zeitgeist of integrated bracelet watches, the sharply domed crystal, thin angular profile, and softened circular bezel manage to present a coherent and unique design. Like most modern Nivada Grenchen watches, the F77 presents like a vintage piece without the drawbacks of owning a vintage watch. This is a catch and release for me as I am whittling down my collection of 30-ish watches(it's a problem). I tried it on around the house and it's just been sitting in my watch box since.
